Steel price in the market on April 7, 2025

Threaded steel: On April 7th, the average price of 20mm Grade III seismic resistant threaded steel in 31 major cities across the country was 3310 yuan/ton, a decrease of 45 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. The implementation of tariff policies has released some short-term market negative sentiment, but the scope of policy impact far exceeds expectations, and market uncertainty risks still exist.

Hot rolled coils: On April 7th, the average price of 4.75mm hot rolled coils in 24 major cities across the country was 3365 yuan/ton, a decrease of 45 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. Recently, some production lines for hot-rolled products have undergone maintenance, resulting in a decrease in production compared to the previous period. However, the direct export of hot-rolled products has weakened compared to the previous period, leaving little room for terminal demand. Coupled with the Qingming holiday and the impact of tariffs imposed by China and the United States, market risk aversion has intensified.

Cold rolled coils: On April 7th, the average price of 1.0mm cold coils in 24 major cities across the country was 4091 yuan/ton, a decrease of 30 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. On the 7th, there was a significant decrease in transaction volume, and although traders actively promoted transactions, demand was relatively weak, resulting in unsatisfactory performance. In terms of mentality, the price difference between cold and hot has remained above 700 yuan/ton for a long time, and the large price difference has put a lot of psychological pressure on traders. Traders are still cautious about the future market.

Medium thick plate: On April 7th, the average price of 20mm ordinary plate in 24 major cities across the country was 3542 yuan/ton, a decrease of 17 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. From the supply situation, the national mid board inventory continues to show a trend of destocking, and spot inventory in the market is tightening, with some specifications already experiencing shortages. In terms of demand, last week the inventory turnover rate of medium plate slowed down, and there were not many orders for construction machinery. The overall transaction volume of low alloy medium plate in East China was not very ideal, and the fundamentals showed a weak supply-demand situation.
